At Switch, we believe words matter. They spark curiosity, inspire creativity, build connections and make a lasting impact.
That shared belief first brought us together with children's author, teacher, poet and rapper Christian Foley at the 2025 Jersey Festival of Words. Since then, our partnership has continued to grow, built around our shared passion for words, storytelling and inspiring the next generation.
Last week marked the next chapter in our partnership story, with two events across Jersey and Glasgow championing children's literacy.
Investing in the Glasgow community
The first event took our partnership with Christian to Glasgow for the first time, with a special literacy event at Torrance Primary School. Every nursery and primary class took part in one of Christian's interactive sessions, with live readings, tongue-twisting rhymes and on the spot raps bringing words to life.
The event also had a personal connection for our Chief Strategy Officer, Lynne, who returned to her former primary school alongside childhood friends and fellow former pupils Mairi Hamilton of SGS Group, Mark Cameron of Mark Cameron Yachts, and Fraser Bryce of Dicksons of Inverness. Together, the four former pupils and their businesses helped make the event possible and made sure that every pupil had their own book to take home afterwards.
Growing our partnerships
Just days later, our partnership with Christian continued in Jersey, where Christian was joined by another giant of children's storytelling, Michael Rosen, for the 2026 Festival of Words event. Together they blended their unique styles and incredible talents to inspire children and families through poetry, rhythm, rap and rhyme. Once again, MasonBreese joined us as a book partner to ensure every family could take a book home from the Festival of Words.
A trusted partnership that continues to grow
At Switch, our values of energy, curiosity and love shape not only the work we do, but how we approach the relationships we build and the communities around us. Our partnership with Christian is one way we can put those values into action, investing in children's literacy and inspiring the next generation while continuing to deepen a relationship that began through our shared love of words and storytelling.
Lynne Capie, Chief Strategy Officer, Switch said:
"Working with Christian to help inspire children to discover their own love of words feels incredibly powerful. Taking that partnership back to my old primary school in Torrance was a bit of a dream a year ago, so to see nearly 200 happy, smiling faces learning, reading, rhyming and rapping was pure joy. To round off the week back at the Festival of Words, where our partnership with Christian first began, and this time with the incredible Michael Rosen too, made it one of the most fulfilling weeks of my career. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created together and excited to see where the partnership takes us next."
It’s been a fantastic week, from Torrance Primary School to the Festival of Words. I’m all about bringing the joy of words to children and showing them how exciting poetry, reading, and playing with language can be. To see children of all ages at both events really getting involved and hopefully igniting that passion for reading is just incredible, and it’s been brilliant to work again with Switch to make both the events happen.
